The Vancouver-based pianist/composer Nathan Shubert established in the last years an unique composing style and presented with his latest album "Folds" a wonderful new milestone for this genre. Influenced by other classical artists like Nils Frahm, Steve Reich, Lubomyr Melnyk and Ólafur Arnalds he created a sound that was driven by his muted piano melodies and harmonies.
Before he dedicates himself to his solo worked Nathan with many different artists like Lydia Hol, Jody Glenham or the No Sinner together and supported them as a brilliant musician in the studio and also on live shows. Furthermore, he brought his enormous inventiveness to all these projects and spawn his own musical horizon at this time.
After we switched over to his solo piano he worked day and night over months on new music and wrote nearly every day little impromptus. Some of those musical ideas build later the foundation for his debut album "Folds", which was recorded with the brilliant Spencer Carson.
This album and its single tracks emphasize his enormous talent! With poetic, propulsive works and an unconventional recording style Nathan spawns not only his own musical shapes, he established a new style of modern classical music!
