About Piano Day 2017 Sovndscapes
Since 2015 every year celebrates the world the "Piano Day"! This year on the 29th March was the third time and like every year before it was held on the 88th day of the year because the piano has 88 keys. The idea of the piano day comes from a group of piano players around the Berlin-based modern classical pioneer Nils Frahm, who realized in 2015 together with the piano builder David Klavins one of the first major projects of this events - the completion of the tallest piano on earth. It's vertically piano and was named Klavin M450 and weighs more than a tonne!
Beside such projects, the Piano Day become a worldwide platform for all piano lovers, builders, players, and fans to celebrate this beautiful instrument. In this year in many cities like Berlin, London, Potsdam, Portland, Tokyo or Barcelona were concerts held for this day and many composers from all corners of the world released special "Piano Day" pieces. So enjoy some of those compositions.

Why does the world need a Piano Day? For many reasons. But mostly, because it doesn't hurt to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano builders, tuners, movers and most important, the listener. - Quote by the Berlin-based modern classical genius Nils Frahm about the Piano Day
