All eyes on the Polish pianist and composer Hania Rani in this week! The video for her heavenly composition "Hawaii Oslo" is not only a little masterpiece in back and white, it is also our "Video of the week".
"hawaii oslo is about rumbling between warmth and coldness, heat and frost, sun and snow. just like in life - there is no stability, no one script for the whole event. and these differences make everything even more interesting", said the 27-years-old Hania from Warsaw about her piano piece. The black and white video by Marcin Leszczynski perfectly reflected the core idea behind "Hawaii Oslo" with its enigmatic, wide-ranging and diverse and shots of the scenery in the Bieszczady Mountains (Poland), and its marvelous fast-cut editing. Hania's piece is a harbinger for her upcoming piano album, which represents a new path in her musical life.
The young and restless Hania is already well known in Poland for performances at the Warsaw Philharmonic or the Grand Theatre – National Opera (also Warsaw) and worked in the last years on several classical music projects like the "Dowland Project", her "Fugue & Prelude" or the theatre play "Dialogue with the Mirror". Together with the talented cellist Dobrawa Czocher recorded the composer and arranger in 2015 the brilliant modern classical album "The White Flag" with one of my absolute favorite tracks called "Intermezzo f-moll".
Hania Rani is definitely one of the most exciting new faces in contemporary classical music and could lead the genre with her musical contribution in a very suspenseful direction. Just a few days ago, she released a new piece together with bass astral called "scream" and underlined with it her enormous musical variety.
So enjoy the video for "Hawaii Oslo" and stay tuned for her upcoming solo piano album. Of course, you can also listen to this track on Spotify here.
